Unlock Your Child’s Full Potential with

One-On-One Tutoring

About

FOR MORE THAN TWO DECADES, I have been helping Seattle Area High School students achieve their full potential. Any student, no matter how “skilled” or “unskilled” they may feel has within them the capacity to have more confidence, enjoyment and true understanding of mathematics. What students need to achieve their goals is a teacher with the insight, math & communication skills to make math meet mind.

I AM THAT TEACHER.

My goal is to transform a student’s potential into abilities. During our sessions together, I will figure out what the barriers are that have kept you from achieving your goals. I will be the helping hand that gives you the skills you need to take you where you want to go, wherever that may be.

“Truman taught me for two years in high school. He catered to the needs of all the students in the class from the ones who needed extra explaining, to the ones who understood it and needed and push to delve deeper into the subject. For me, he taught how to love math and gave me a newfound desire to study it further in college. He’s an inspirational and effective teacher.”

“Whether it’s SAT tutoring, classroom help, or general math tutoring, Truman was always willing to help me and provide as many explanations as I needed. I always felt encouraged and that he was very knowledgeable of the material. My math experience with Truman has definitely prepared me well for higher level math classes in high school and college.”

“Truman was one of my high school math teachers. Truman is a really great teacher, he was always very patient and great at explaining concepts. He expected the best out of his students but also provided them the necessary support that they needed to succeed. He is a big part why I am currently on my way to becoming a math teacher, just like him. I want to be there for students and make a positive difference in their lives, like Truman did in mine.”

“Truman’s teaching was directly responsible for my math score increasing 150 points on my SATII math test. While I was a decent math student, I had considerable anxiety surrounding the subject. Truman’s calm, yet focused, approach to tutoring helped me relax and perform at my highest ability. Much in part to my improved test scores, I was able to get into my school of choice which has really made all the difference in my chosen career path.”

“Truman was the best math TA I had at UW. He made pre-calculus interesting and fun. He was enthusiastic, he encouraged students to ask questions, and made an effort to interact with everyone personally. He gave helpful feedback on homework problems and exams and inspired me to enjoy math.”

“Truman taught me 10th grade geometry with enthusiasm and skill, leaving me with a solid foundation in basic proofs and a much less skeptical attitude towards math classes. I studied history and political theory in college, but was reminded how lucky I was to have good high school math teachers when I was forced to confront the quantitative section of the GRE before entering graduate school.”

“Truman has served as my geometry teacher, SAT prep instructor, and life guru. The attention he pays to each student’s individual needs, approaches, and problems not only helped me to understand better shapes and multiple-choice algebra problems, but also allowed me, as a member of his classes, to learn how to approach various mathematical (and other sorts of) problems from different angles. The time and dedication that Truman provides to his students allowed me to learn how to tackle particular mathematical concepts and how to understand and even play with them.”
